Hosting & Domains

The part nobody warns you about isn't building the website. It's the four separate accounts you end up holding afterwards.

No deposit. Nothing to sign to see it.

The usual arrangement, and why it goes wrong

A lot of businesses end up with the domain registered at one company, hosting at a second, email at a third, and the login for all of it in an old employee's inbox. It works fine right up until a card expires or a certificate lapses, and then the site is down and nobody is quite sure who to call.

That arrangement is common, it's a bad deal for you, and it isn't necessary.

What I handle

  • Registering your domain, or moving the one you already own
  • Hosting the site on the same server the demos on this site run from
  • The HTTPS certificate — issued, installed, and renewed before it lapses
  • Renewals, so a lapsed card never takes your site off the internet
  • Watching that the site is actually up, without you having to check

You never touch a control panel

There's no dashboard to learn and no monthly login to remember. When something about the website needs doing, you call one person about it. That's the whole system.

If you ever want to leave, the domain is yours and I'll hand it over cleanly. I'd rather be the person you stay with than the person you're stuck with.

Fair questions

While we're on it

Who handles the domain and the technical stuff?

I do — registration, hosting, security, renewals, all of it. It's part of the deal, not an upsell. You run your business; when anything about the website comes up, you call one person: me.

What if I want to leave later?

The domain is yours. If you decide to go elsewhere, I'll hand it over cleanly and without an argument. I'd rather be the person you stay with than the person you're stuck with.

See yours before you decide

Tell me about your business and I'll build it. You'll be looking at your finished website, on a live link, before the question of money comes up at all.
