Fair questions
The things you'd ask me over the counter.
Straight answers, including to the ones that are a bit awkward.
What does it cost?
One flat price for the build, then one monthly figure that covers the hosting, the domain, the certificate and any updates you want. It's the same for a one-page shop and a five-page contractor, so there's no quote to sit and wait on.
Ask me and I'll tell you straight away. What I won't do is post it here ahead of the work — you see your finished website on a live link before you're asked for any of it. No deposit, ever, and nothing to sign to look.
I already have a website. Can you replace it?
That's the easiest sell I've got. I'll build the new one anyway and put it on a live link, and you can set it side by side with what you have now. If mine isn't clearly better, don't pay me.
Your current site stays exactly as it is while you compare. Nothing switches over until you say so.
Who handles the domain and the technical stuff?
I do — registration, hosting, security, renewals, all of it. It's part of the deal, not an upsell. You run your business; when anything about the website comes up, you call one person: me.
How long does it take?
Not long — most of the work happens before you've committed to anything, which is the whole point. Tell me about your business and I'll tell you when to expect your link.
What's the catch? Nobody works for free.
There isn't one, but the reasoning is worth explaining. Describing a website to somebody is slow and unconvincing. Handing them a link to their finished website is neither.
So I skip the selling and do the building. My bet is that once you've opened your own site on your own phone, you'd rather keep it than not. If you wouldn't, you were never going to buy anyway, and I've lost an afternoon instead of you losing a deposit.
What if I want something changed?
Tell me and I'll change it. That's true before you've paid and it stays true afterwards — new hours, new photos, a new service, a new phone number. Send it over and it goes up.
There's no ticket system and no editor for you to learn. A text message is the fastest way to update your website.
I don't have any good photos. Is that a problem?
No. Send me whatever you've got — phone pictures of the shop, the truck, the work, the sign out front. Real photographs of a real business beat stock images of somebody else's every time.
If you've genuinely got nothing, I can build around it and we can add photos later.
What if I want to leave later?
The domain is yours. If you decide to go elsewhere, I'll hand it over cleanly and without an argument. I'd rather be the person you stay with than the person you're stuck with.
Do you only work with businesses near Ponca City?
That's where most of the work is, and it's where I can drive out and shake your hand. But the building and the hosting happen the same way regardless of distance — the sites I've built stretch to Kansas, Texas, Alabama and Florida, most of them spec builds I made before anybody asked.
If you're within an hour or so of Ponca City, you also get the option of doing it in person.
Will it show up on Google?
The groundwork is done properly on every site I build: a real page title and description for each page, the structured data search engines read, a sitemap, fast loading, and a layout that works on a phone. That's the part that's in my control and it's included.
What I won't do is promise you a ranking. Anybody who does is guessing, and where you land depends on your competition, your reviews and your listings as much as your website. I'll tell you honestly what a site can and can't do for that.
Still wondering something?
Ask me. (580) 304-3999 or samdesignsoftware@gmail.com — I'd rather answer an awkward question now than have you not ask it.
No risk
The only way to really answer it
Have me build the thing and look at it. That's free, and it settles most of the questions on this page.
